Cautiously Optimistic

That is the détente I’ve reached with the new job. We will be together at least another couple of weeks, then re-evaluation. For now, it is the best I can do.

On the Job

Have you ever walked in on the first day of a new job and thought, "Oh, yeah! This is right, exactly right; this is where I should be."?

My first day on this new job I didn't have that feeling. In fact, I spent last week either holding back tears, or just plain ole cryin'. I ended up 3 nights in a row at my favorite restaurant drowning my sorrows in giant margaritas. I now, I don't know what I should do.

Part of the not-rightness about this job is that my boss is not in the office for another 2 weeks, and I'm torn between sticking it out, waiting to see if she can make a difference, or looking and leaving as soon as possible.

Another part of the dilemma is that I have to spend a year in this position before I can apply to transfer to a different job in the same company, and I love this company. I love the benefits, the corporate attitude, the opportunities. I don't want to leave at all, but don't know if I can stick this out.

I'm at a loss, and very unhappy. I just don't know what to do about it.

I Must Confess

Whilst overcome by depression over the state of my *un*employment, I watched all five hours of the VH1 Top 100 Songs of the '80s.

Oh yes I did, and it was fabulous! Livin' on a Prayer (Bon Jovi) was #1.

Back In The Ranks of the Gainfully Employed

So, I was offered a job today that I gladly accepted, and POOF! I'm back in the ranks of the gainfully employed.

Although I'm very relieved to have a job, I was hoping for a couple more weeks off before jumping back in....I was looking at last minute getaways to cross more desinations off The List.

Things That Suck: Part Two

Unemployment!

That's right, I was "laid off", a victim of "staff reduction". And while I half knew this was coming, it still sucks! The part(s) that really piss me off:

Those who don't care about me, but offer useless platitudes and general bullshit.

Those who were ACTUALLY RESPONSIBLE who claim total innocence in the whole process (dude, you had a part in it...just own it!).

Those who don't say a word to me. Not just don't say a word, but actively ignore me the whole day. I think that kind of chickenshit attitude show exactly your level of human decency...which is to say, you have none.

There are those I work with who genuinely care about me they know that anything they say will only make it worse and are content to just take me to lunch and complain that they are stuck with my counterpart forever now.

In the main, I was not surprised, and in fact, plotting to defect from the group because it has grown increasingly unstable. The good news (there is always some) is that I have money in the bank and will have several months of severance. I had a job interview today that went well, is still with the company, and looks like an exciting opportunity. All in all, when I think about this turn of events I am not upset, just a little worried. I think this may be the kick in the ass needed to get me moving on to bigger and better things. But in the meantime...THIS!SUCKS! (Although not as much as two broken arms)

P.S. To Frank, shut the fuck up you stupid, ignorant bastard! I am so glad that I will never have to deal with your hateful, petty, bullying, racist ass ever, ever again!

P.P.S. To Tom, I hope you found my site and grow a pair!

I'm Zoe

And then there were two:

And Then There Were Two

Ernie picked the discarded shell up in her beak and flew it away from the nest. I guess Bert wasn't so anxious to help with the housekeeping aspect of parenting.
