Fake Pets

Fake pets are the best pets! When I owned the house the neighbors had 2 cats that liked to hang out on my back porch and run around my back yard. They were playful, fun to watch, and best of all I had absolutely no responsibility. Didn't have to feed them, shelter them, nothing. I miss those cats...until yesterday. Now, I have new fake pets.

I was sitting on my couch yesterday, and happened to glance out the living room window. I noticed a weird lump-like thing in one of the garden pots that had spent the winter on the balcony. When I went over to get a closer look, it contained a pigeon. I didn't want pigeons on my balcony so I smacked the glass and off it flew. That's when I noticed what was in the pot.

Day 1 One Egg

So, I did a little searching on pigeons and their nesting habits (turns out both parents participate in the "warming of the eggs"), and decided I would let them keep this nest for now. And today when I checked:

Day 2 Two Eggs

That is all the eggs I'm expecting. We'll see how this goes, and if they are too messy, or too noisy I'll have to destroy future nests and eggs, but for now I've got new fake pets...I'm thinking Bert and Ernie...cause they're doing the P-P-Pigeon.

GRRR!

I spent the earlier part of this evening busily doing my taxes. I've had the software forever, but kept putting it off and putting it off. Finally I decided that today was the day.

I could finish them tonight, drop them in the mail tomorrow, and not have to be a loser at the post office on Monday.

The actual taxes went quickly enough. (Plus I'll be getting a refund!) But then it came time to print. My printer said my ink cartridge was too low. No problem, I've got a extra just for this very occasion. I changed the cartridge, shut the cover, and nothing. Just. Nothing. Except a message saying the cover is still open.

NO IT ISN'T! IT. IS. CLOSED!

So now, no matter what I try, I can't print. And I can't print from another computer without reinstalling the software. GRRR!!! Now, I'll probably be one of the sad procrastinators standing at the post office come Monday morning.

Bored

I'm bored with myself...In fact I'm in something of a rut (a deep Mexican rut, to those in the know). I haven't figured a way out of it. But something needs to change and soon.

Popcorn Popping

Popcorn Popping
I looked out the window and what did I see?
Popcorn popping on the apricot tree.
Spring has brought me such a nice suprise
Blossoms popping right before my eyes.

Apricot Blossoms

I could take an armful and make a treat.
A popcorn ball that would smell so sweet.
It wasn't really so, but it seemed to be
Popcorn popping on the apricot tree!
